to give New Yorkers a dose of World Class Soccer Excitement and at the same time benefit Unicef.
Yes I know I’m blowing my own horn a little bit because I was involved in the event. My kid got to meet the players and Sir Alex Ferguson, what a Thrill.
It was just so awesome. For Manchester United to be so willing to give right on the heels of the World Cup and which is an admittedly smart move by Hublot, made winners out of everyone.
From the official Press Release here’s a little more about the event.
Professional players Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nani, Darren Fletcher, Michael Owen and the manager Sir Alex Ferguson will attempt to hit a target “masked” as a giant Hublot watch from 51 feet in the hopes of scoring a one million dollar goal for United for UNICEF. The event, which will take place in between the iconic Flatiron and Empire State buildings on 23rd Street and Broadway, will be open to the public.
I had an all access pass but people and who were crowded 5 deep got a chance to hop the guard rails and take a shot just like the pros. From 51 feet away the objective was to kick the soccer ball through a small flap in a branded target painted as a Hublot Watch which was really nice. They had them on display.
But Nodari (my kid) was the first one to get three shots at the goal and he blasted away. I was really proud. We had a great time.
