Comedy Central Roasts Hit The Spot.
COMEDY CENTRAL ROASTS HIT THE SPOT WITH THE HOFF AND SHATNER
My viewing habits are fairly set. PBS, True Crime, Sports and some, gulp…. Reality TV. But let me quickly qualify that. Not Housewives, Jersey Shore, Cake Boss, Celebrity Rehab, or any of the competition shows except, maybe, if I don’t have a say, Dancing With The Stars. And even then the producers throw in some athletes for the guys.
Ultimate Fighter Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, UFO Hunters and even then, only for a few seasons until they get repetitive.
Other shows are historical and run the gamut from American Gangster to shows on Hitler. There’s a macabre fascination I (and apparantly enough others), have in the evil people will do for money and power.
But recently I’ve rediscovered Comedy Central. Dave Chappelle on Comedy Central is awesome (we wish he’d make some more, or some specials or something), but I’ve seen each episode enough times and can claim to have kept it real! But the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff was hysterical, and it was a nice change from Investigation ID. My wife remarked that maybe we should be watching more Comedy Central and less murder and mayhem, or Predator Raw, or Anerican Greed.
My favorite show still is America’s most wanted because I’m always curious to see if any of those fugitives are living out near Brighton Beach selling nuclear submarines…. (that’ll get flagged), or if anyone from the old days finally hit the big time.
David Hasselhoff “The Hoff” was a good sport and Pam Anderson looked great. Both really took a beating along with Hulk Hogan. Comedy Central has a formula and it works. There’s always one octegenarian (this time it was George Hamilton), and of course 5 or 6 Comedy Central main-stays like Lisa Lampanelli.
For instance….
“Lisa plays a big part in African American History…. The last guy to pick cotton was pulling a tampon out of her bleep…” There are obviously a lot of adult themes the kids wont get like about DWI and Cocaine. But some they will. Like from Jeffrey Ross when roasting William Shatner. “If Scotty tried to beam you up know you’d break the transporter!!”
LOL.
And it gets worse. With Pam Anderson and The Hoff you only have to use your imagination, or tune into Comedy Central.
They actually even roasted Pam Anderson on Comedy Central (who I thought was actually pretty good in Barb Wire). But the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner was the best.
If you can find it on Comedycentral.com or Youtube, watch it.
In case you missed it here’s a clip.
COMEDY CENTRAL ROASTS HIT THE SPOT WITH THE HOFF AND SHATNER
Bottom line is we’ve made a decision to start by watching Comedy Central an hour a day (as long as we’re going to be watching television), and laugh together as a family.
